Greg Makhov has been involved with the entertainment laser display industry since 1977. Since starting Lighting Systems Design Inc. in 1983, Greg has been an active force in shaping how laser safety issues affect the entertainment industry as well as commercial and governmental entities.

As a lecturer for Rockwell Laser Industries (RLI) 'Lasers in Arts and Entertainment' and 'Safety of Lasers Outdoors' courses, Greg has instructed many individuals in the Federal Government, Commercial Industries, as well as the Entertainment Industry.

Drawing on his unique mix of in-depth understanding of laser theory and diverse practical production experience, Greg is a member of the SAE G-10 committee. The SAE G-10 is an independent committee comprised of commercial and governmental experts in the use of Lasers. The committees recommendations for outdoor laser use in airspace were the basis for the Federal Aviation Administration's 7400.2 E 'Outdoor Laser Operations' safety procedures document. The recommendations were also incorporated into the American National Standards Institutes ANSI Z136.6 'Safe Use of Lasers Outdoors' standards.

Greg is also the chairman of the International Laser Display Association's Laser Safety Committee and has been instrumental in forging many of the safety procedures and technical specifications used by ILDA's members.
